If you’re headed to Greenport for dinner after a day of wine tasting, Claudio’s Restaurant says why stop there? The landmark seafood eatery is now serving an extensive selection of Long Island wines, including tasting flights.

While the restaurant has always included Long Island wines on their menu, the list now features over 20 selections from some of the North Fork’s most popular and respected wineries including Bedell Cellars, Jamesport Vineyards, Martha Clara Vineyards, Osprey’s Dominion and Pindar.  South Fork wines like Channing Daughters and Wölffer Estate Vineyard are also on the menu. A variety of reds and whites, along with some blends and sparkling wines are available. Even a local port is being served.

Claudio’s says, “Long Island wines have more to offer now than ever, there are so many different ones. This year we made a conscious decision to include more local wines.”

Along with 15 local wines being served by the glass, the restaurant is now also offering tasting flights of local reds, whites and rosés. The flights include samplings of three distinctive North or South Fork wines for $11.

Claudio’s says, “It’s a great way for customers to sample Long Island wines before making a pairing decision for dinner.”

But how did they decide on which wines to serve out of so many wineries? The restaurant says it was hard to whittle down the list, but they had a vision to showcase different styles and varietals. The wines are served in tasting glasses atop a piece of driftwood in the order they should be tasted. Plans are also underway to feature other local wines not on their list, in special summer menus during the week.

Claudio’s says they hope their new offerings will extend Long Island’s Wine Trail all the way to Greenport by giving customers a chance to try something new or just continue enjoying what they already love.
