Sometimes, it’s the best ideas that just kind of … happen.

On an recent Friday night at Long Ireland Beer Company the brewery’s regular crowd was in the tasting room, filling up growlers for the weekend and throwing back a pint or two after the work week. Closing time came. It went. And people were still hanging out.

One thing lead to another and someone brought a karaoke machine inside.

And so, “Final Fridays” was born.

“We’ve become friends with so many of our regular customers that it was kind of like, one night, we all just ended up hanging out extra,” said Greg Martin, who owns the Pulaski Street brewery along with co-owner Dan Burke. “The first one was impromptu — we never really thought about it. It just seemed like a natural fit.”

Final Fridays at the brewery is marked, unsurprisingly, on the last Friday of each month. The brewery will stay open until 11 p.m. instead of the usual closing time of 7 p.m. with an activity of one kind or another planned.

This Friday’s is trivia night run by Let’s Get Quizzical and will run from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. Cost is $5 per person to participate, and cash prizes are available.

“And then, we lock up and go home,” said Martin.
