Bière Greenport

It’s going to be a lot harder to get a table at Bière Bar and Restaurant this summer.

The Greenport restaurant, known for its intimate setting, Belgian beer list and mussels, is undergoing renovations. Chef and owner Frank Purita will still cook Friday and Saturday nights, but only 35 seats will be open for dining in a small entertaining room at back of the eatery.

“I’ve been wanting to do this for the past 10 years,” Purita said Monday. “It’s the same menu, but it will be in the rear room.”

Purita said crews will be reenforcing the restaurant’s floor, installing a new POS system and performing other upgrades. He hopes to reopen the full 65-seat restaurant in August.

Meanwhile, he said patrons can look for a sign posted out front announcing whether or not the restaurant is open. If there is room, they can get a table.

“We’re looking forward to some more amazing times,” he said. “It’s become a pretty special place. It’s got a great sense of community there.”

D’Latte, which is located next door and is also owned by Purita, will stay open during the renovations. Expect additional seatings and 200 rotating flavors of gelato there this season.

Bière Bar and Restaurant is located at 218 Main Street in Greenport.
