The North Fork Designer Show House, the event where local designers turned an empty old farm house into a display of chic and stylish rooms, will be back for another showing this August.

The committee members behind the show house said an August event raised about $50,000 for local charities and a December event raised about $20,000. The event was so successful the organizers — Bob Tapp, Kate DiGregorio, Melissa Buckley, Nick Ellis, Christina Kosmynka and Barbara and Tom McAdam — were named The Suffolk Times’ “Community Leaders of the Year” for 2014.

“We want to make $100,000 and give it away,” Tapp said of the upcoming event.

To raise the money, Tapp said the committee is seeking corporate sponsorships and will host an opening bash. The remainder of the funds will be raised through the show house’s entry fee, which will likely be about $25. There will also be a raffle with what Tapp described as “mega” prizes.

The events have been held in a 12-room house next to the Village Green in Cutchogue, owned by Cutchogue Presbyterian Church. The upcoming event will take place in the same space, but will also include a nearby barn and two out-buildings at the adjacent home owned by Jessica Lee (editor’s note: This post incorrectly stated that Lee’s home will be included in the event).

“We’re hoping that this is a trend because we were the first group to do this on the North Fork,” said Kosmynka, who co-owns North Fork Self Storage in Cutchogue with her husband Marty. “When you’re on a high like that, you want to keep going. We just love to give back to the community.”

“In addition to the new interior space, we’re going to have outdoor space that we’re going to try and develop with activities,” Tapp said. “We want to try to attract families with things like music and horseshoes. We might have a tea one day.”

The North Fork Animal Welfare League will also bring animals up for adoption.

The committees has yet to work out all the details, but new designers are expected to sign on as well as a few returning designers. The beneficiaries of the August event have not been determined.

The 2015 North Fork Designer Show house will be held Thursday through Sunday from August 14 through September 6.  For more information, follow the North Fork Designer Show House on Facebook.

The group is also looking for garden designers to participate. Those interested can contact Tapp at (631) 807-7509.
