The folks at Palmer’s American Grille in Farmingdale are opening a restaurant on the North Fork. Specifically, at The Vineyards Golf Club in Riverhead.

The Vineyards is a members-only club, to be sure, and the same holds for the clubhouse restaurant.

But here’s the thing, you can be a dining-only club member for $25 a year.

The partnership was announced Friday.

“We’re private, so our members will be able to obviously use this restaurant, and now we also have a dining member,” said the club’s director of member services, Ashley Harlin. “We assign you a dining member number. It’s the bar, then lunch and dinner. We’re opening it up to everybody.”

Dining members will have access to the restaurant, being called Palmer’s East, from Wednesdays through Sundays for lunch and dinner. Full-fledged golf members have the place to themselves on Mondays and Tuesdays.

The Vineyards is a member-owned 70 par 18-hole golf course.  Its 12,000-square-foot clubhouse, which has the bar and restaurant, meeting rooms, lockers and an outdoor patio, is supplemented by a separate fitness room, an inground pool and two tennis courses.

Palmer’s American Grille, located at 123 Fulton Street in Farmingdale, is a contemporary restaurant headed by executive chef John Catalanotto, who studied at the Culinary Institute of American and La Varenne Cooking School in Paris, according to a press release announcing the partnership.

“They were interested in working with a country club,” Harlin said of how the partnership developed.  “They were looking, and they found us.”

And just maybe, Harlin said, if dining members like the food, they’ll join for the golf.
