If you picture Moustache Brewing Co. as a newborn who came into the world with a downy upper lip, that baby would now be a toddler sporting a full handlebar.

The Riverhead craft brewery, which opened a Hallett Avenue tasting room in 2014, will celebrate its first birthday Saturday, April 18, at the Polonaise Park pavilion from 1 to 7 p.m. The public is invited to the celebration, which will feature six of Moustache’s favorite brews from the past year and a special appearance by Rally Beard IPA, its exclusive anniversary beer. Food trucks including Eat Me, Drink Me; Chiddy’s Cheesesteaks and Blondie’s Bake Shop will also be on hand. Amid the festivities, Moustache co-owner Matt Spitz will shave his impressive beard with the help of the Rockabilly Barbers.

It’s been a big year for Matt and his wife, Moustache co-owner Lauri. The duo added two new seven-barrel fermentation tanks to their operation this winter, a move that nearly quadrupled their maximum output. Previously, Moustache fermented all of its beers in five one-barrel tanks, a tiny operation compared to other local craft breweries.

According to a press release, party guests can preorder Moustache merchandise to guarantee ownership of special anniversary shirts and pint glasses until April 6. For more information, go to moustachebrewing.com.

A new business, the pedal-powered brewery shuttle Brew Crew Cycles, will also debut nearby at the same time.

Polonaise Park is located at 300 Lincoln St. in Riverhead.
