Two North Fork homes fetched prices north of $4 million last year, according to a list of the most expensive Shelter Island and North Fork real estate sales of 2014.
Seven of the top ten transfers were on Shelter Island, two were on the North Fork and one was on Fishers Island, according to the list released by Town & Country Real Estate last week. Seven of those sales were purchased by holding companies, so in many cases, the identity of the buyer is unclear.
The priciest sale on the North Fork was for a Paradise Point property in Southold, which was listed by Douglas Elliman Real Estate and sold for $7.4 million. The six acre estate boasts a private beach and cabana, six bedrooms and private guest quarters.
The second most expensive transfer on the North Fork and eighth overall was the former Bissett estate in Mattituck, which sold for $4 million in January, according to a report in the Suffolk Times.
“Behind wrought iron gates an oasis awaits,” Corcoran broker Sheri Winter Clarry (and northforker columnist) said at the time. “It’s 14,000 square feet of perfect entertaining and living space with endless planted grounds.”
Originally listed at $8.9 million, the 37-acre, 14,000 square-foot estate at 55 Cox Neck Road in Mattituck was notable for its scope and sizable price tag.
At the top of the list is the ‘boater’s paradise’ on Shelter Island’s Lari Lane, the sale of which was brokered by Town & Country. Featuring a three-bedroom guest house and a dock surrounded by water deep enough to park a yacht., according to Curbed Hamptons, the property sold for $9.5 million.
