The concept sure seemed to appeal to our readers, making it our tenth most read story of the year.

9. North Fork Bacon & Smokehouse opens in Wading River

Northforkers must really like pulled pork, sliced brisket, burnt ends and barbecue buffalo wings. The opening of North Fork Bacon & Smokehouse in April was met with much-anticipation, making it our ninth most read story of the year.

8. Lombardi’s to take over former Love Lane Market

Folks were very excited to mange been in Mattituck this year. Lombardi’s Love Lane opened in September and has been just about jam-packed ever since, making this story our eight most read of 2014.

7. North Fork Table & Inn has been a labor of love for chefs

When news hit that the much lauded North Fork Table & Inn was on the market, we at Times/Review felt it was an appropriate time to look back on chef Gerry Hayden and Claudia Fleming’s North Fork careers. Our readers agreed, making this the seventh most read story of 2014.

6. Louis C.K. buys Shelter Island Estate

When comedian Louis C.K. purchased a six bedroom, 3.5 bathroom waterfront estate on Shelter Island this summer, many people were curious to get a peek inside, making this our sixth most read story of the year.

Ammirati’s on Love Lane holds a special in our hearts because they bring us bagels, piping hot coffee and more right to our office every day via their lunch truck. Apparently our readers hold them in equally high regard, making the news that Ammirati’s was opening on Love Lane the fifth most read story of the year.

4. The five best breakfast sandwiches on the North Fork.

Our rankings of the five best egg sandwiches on the North Fork certainly raised some eyebrows among breakfast aficionados. But whether you agreed with us or not, you wanted to know what we had to say. This story was the fourth most read on northforker in 2014.

3. Long Island Wine Council remembers the Borgheses

We usually leave reporting tragic community news to our sister websites, SuffolkTimes.com and RiverheadNewsReview.com. But we acknowledged the untimely passing of one of the North Fork wine industry’s most beloved couple by posting the Long Island Wine Council’s statement in its entirety. Their words were some of the most read on northforker in 2014.

We might not have believed that Jimmy Fallon visited the Whiskey Wind in Greenport were there not photo proof. But we’re glad he did. The funny man’s visit to the North Fork was our second most read story of 2014.

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian was spotted leaving Mattituck Cinemas, as a small crowd gathered around to take pictures of the celebrity, who’s best known for her family’s E! Network show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and for having photos taken of her at places like the movies.

While Kim might be a celebrity who people say they can’t stand, in truth they can’t get enough of her. This brief story was the most read of 2014.
