These two nine-foot-long sailing dinghies can be found on the front lawn of Robert Voelkel Jr.’s Cutchogue home.

Voelkel has set this holiday display out for about 15 of the 23 years he has lived in his home, located at the corner of Skunk Lane and Pine Tree Road.

When his daughters Tara, 24, and Shannon, 22, were young they sailed in the dinghies and even took lessons at Old Cove Yacht Club. But, he said, they really didn’t take to it and the boats have since been retired for the holiday decorations. The family now sails in their 24-foot-long Shamrock.

When asked if people cruise the neighborhood to take photos of their home, Voelkel said “I’ve heard of people receiving Christmas cards with a photo of them on it.”
