Our staff photographer Barbaraellen Koch recently spotted these seagulls bathing in the spray of the waves at Iron Pier Beach in Jamesport.

The gulls were the sole occupants at the beach on a particularly cold and windy day.

Two record-low temperatures were set in a two-day span that week. Tuesday, Nov. 18 saw a low temperature of 24 degrees, beating the previous record of 25 degrees set in 1997. The following day’s low of 22 beat a record of 23 set in 1999.

But the cold weather didn’t last long

The temperature could rise as high as 57 degrees today, Nov. 30, according to the forecast.

And remember, there are only six more months until beach season officially begins.

Happy Sunday everyone!
