In this week’s edition of “What’s for Lunch?” we recommend the Coup de Ville sandwich from Joe’s Garage and Grill.

When I scan a lunch menu, grilled chicken sandwiches often call out to me but I frequently pass them up out of fear of getting a dry, flavorless chunk of meat. But I was pleasantly surprised by the juicy chicken on this sandwich. The avocado and mushroom also kept the Coup de Ville moist and the sauce adds a nice flavor.

Grilled chicken, avocado garage sauce, portobello mushrooms, and lettuce is served on a whole wheat ciabatta bun with fries, cole slaw and pickle ($10.95.)

Pro tip: Skip the ketchup and dip your fries in Kansas City barbecue sauce, which is made in house.

Joe’s Garage and Grill, which was recently named one of Long Island’s 100 best restaurants by Newsday, makes for a perfectly delightful — yet filling — lunch. It also offers beer tasting flights with you meal and a respectable dessert menu.

The restaurant is also participating in Long Island Restaurant Week, so check them out for dinner this week.

Joe’s Garage and Grill is located at 40 Peconic Ave. in Riverhead.
