Riverhead is the place to see and be seen in your Halloween costume this weekend.

Both kids and adults will enjoy the dozens of events at the three-day Edgar Allan Poe Festival. The event runs from Friday, Oct. 31, through Sunday, Nov. 2. And while there are many activities to choose from, we narrowed down our favorites for both the kiddies and the 21+ crowd.

For the kids:

Halloween is not Halloween without bags filled with candy. We recommend dressing the kids up after school and heading to downtown Riverhead for “Trick or Treat on Main Street” from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. It’s the perfect lead-in to that day’s main event, a Poe-inspired parade featuring macabre characters like the headless horseman from “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” plus witches and ghouls. The parade begins at 7 p.m.

For the adults:

Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. in Peconic is hosting a party Friday, Oct. 31, from 7 to 11 p.m. There will be a costume contest and eats from Noah’s on the Road food truck. Bring a food or toiletry donation for Community Action Southold Town (CAST) and get a free pint refill.

First and South restaurant in Greenport is also hosting a party and costume contest from 10 p.m. to close Friday night.

On Saturday, we recommend kicking off your night at Crooked Ladder Brewing Co.’s downtown Riverhead tasting room. The brewery is hosting a “No Power Pregame” beginning at 6 p.m. As the name suggests, it will be lights out for this Halloween-inspired tasting — drinks will be served by candlelight. Come in costume and enjoy 10 percent off your tab.

Check out the fireworks at 8 p.m. on the waterfront before heading to Joe’s Garage and Grill, also in downtown Riverhead. The restaurant’s costume party starts at 9 p.m. There will also be a DJ and drink specials including: $7 21 oz. draft beer, $20 mix and match beer buckets, $3 Coors Light pints, $10 Coors Light pitches and specialty cocktails like Joe’s Almond Joy martini. There is no cover charge.
