If you’re curious about wine, The Tasting Group is offering the perfect opportunity to learn more about what — and how — to sip.

Beginning in November, the Mattituck collective tasting room will open its production facility’s doors to share winemaking and tasting secrets.

The monthly Winemaker Education Series, which runs through April, will feature talks from The Tasting Group’s winemakers and answer questions like “How do you make a make a white wine from a red grape?”  and “Why do some chardonnays taste buttery?”

Alie Shaper of Brooklyn Oenology will lead the first session on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 3  to 5 p.m. The class will include a ‘Behind the wine’ tour of the facility (which is usually closed to the public), a wine tasting lesson and an apertivo hour in the barrel room with artisanal meats, cheeses and gourmet snacks.

General admission is $50 per person or $35 for wine club members. To purchase tickets online, click here.
