A great escape for those looking for a peaceful retreat, The Coffey House Bed and Breakfast is a house of history that enables relaxation.

Innkeepers Ellie and Rick Coffey spared no detail when they restored the 1886 East Marion farmhouse, once home to the keepers of Bug Lighthouse and their families. They purchased the property in 2002 and spent the next five years restoring and adding on to the original structure, using a contractor who perfectly matched the home’s original woodwork.

In 2008 they said the dream became a reality and The Coffey House Bed and Breakfast opened its doors.

Today guests can still get a feel for the area’s history not only in the inn’s architecture, but also through its decor. The Coffeys furnished the inn with heirlooms and antiques from local shops.

Of course there are modern amenities as well. The common areas are filled with the sound of acoustic music traveling via the inn’s built-in sound system, providing a relaxing ambience.

“The speakers are one of the best features we have,” Ms. Coffey said. “It is very soothing.”
