Get into the spirit of fall with Lieb Cellars as the winery hosts an official release party for its new hard cider, Rumor Mill, on Friday.

The party runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lieb’s Oregon Road location. Live music will be provided by Swear and Shake and Noah’s on the Road food truck will be selling food.

“We’re going to have complimentary cider tastings throughout the evening and throughout the month of October,” said marketing and wine club manager Dana Kowalsick.

“Rumor Mill,” a dry sparkling hard cider made using the same method as Lieb’s wines, was released in August.

The name was chosen as a way for Lieb to pay tribute to the small-town feel of the North Fork’s villages, Kowalsick said. Each bottle features a series of “rumors,” some chosen from real life, around the bottle.

Rumor Mill is made with 10 different types of apples — from granny smith and empire to more exotic varieties like mutsu and elstar— all picked from Briermere Farm in Riverhead, according to the winery.

The cider is pressed at Jericho Cider Mill on Long Island and then fermented and bottled at Lieb Cellars’ production facility by Lieb’s winemaker, Russell Hearn, she said.

Lieb will pour Rumor Mill at the Pour the Core hard cider festival on Saturday, Oct. 4 at Peconic Bay Winery.

“We wanted to make it a whole weekend dedicated to cider,” she said.

Lieb Cellars is located at 13050 Oregon Road in Cutchogue.
