Enjoy bluegrass, traditional American music and local food on Columbus Day weekend at Sylvester Manor’s Plant & Sing Festival on Shelter Island.

The event kicks off at the 1652 homestead Friday, Oct. 10, with free farm activities including garlic planting and fall crop harvesting. The fun continues Saturday, Oct. 11, with a performance by headlining folk singers and sisters Martha Wainwright and Lucy Wainwright Roche. Nashville bluegrass band The Deadly Gentlemen will open for the duo and progressive Maine group Perpetual e-Motion will also play.

In addition, there will be performances by nationally recognized food writers, poets and thinkers, according to a press release.

Tickets:

Veterans, students and seniors: $30 in advance/$45 after Oct. 1.
General admission: $35 in advance/ $50 after Oct. 1.
Carload (up to six people): $175 in advance/ $250 after Oct. 1.
Kids 12 and under: Free
VIP tickets: $125 in advance/ $150 after Oct. 1. Includes a “Meet the Artist” farm brunch. Children may attend the VIP brunch for $45.
