Chef Noah Schwartz of Noah’s in Greenport, whose staff will now operate the wood-fired oven at Jamesport Vineyards, has revamped the winery’s menu giving its items a foodie twist.

“You’re in an industry where there’s food and wine and you always see the symbiosis between the two,” said Jamesport Vineyards winemaker and general manager Ron Goerler Jr.  “We’re not a restaurant and we don’t want to be. But we have a responsibility to our patrons to make sure they have food in their stomachs.”

The wood-fired oven will be open Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 12 to 6 p.m. until Nov. 30.

“I’m looking forward to merging the flavors of Noah’s with the vintages of the vineyard and can’t wait to see where this new path takes us together,” Schwartz said in a statement.

Schwartz and his crew will continue to run his popular Greenport restaurant as well as the food truck Noah’s on the Road.

For three years the Main Road winery has offered wood-fired flatbreads as well as fresh oysters (28,000 shucked a year), but Goerler explained that he was looking to offer a more upscale menu.

“People are looking to experience that North Fork lifestyle,” Goerler said. “We’re stepping up the quality of our flatbreads.”

Schwartz debuted the new menu on Friday, Aug. 29.

The menu includes the following: Local heirloom tomato flatbread with Latham’s tomatoes, organic tomato sauce, mozzarella and fontina cheese; clam pesto flatbread with chopped local clams, homemade pesto and parmesan cheese; and a wood oven warm lobster roll with warm Atlantic lobster, garlic butter, toasted martin’s potato roll, North Fork Potato Chips and homemade pickles.

Jamesport Vineyards is located at 1216 Main Road in Jamesport.
