If you don’t yet have Labor Day weekend plans but want to avoid the sure-to-be-hectic waterways, consider checking out SHARE: A Celebration of Education on Sunday, Aug. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hallockville Museum Farm’s Naugles Barn in Riverhead.

Hosted by the North Fork Education Initiative and Peconic Community School, the third annual fundraising event will honor Richard Malone, superintendent of Oysterponds School District in Orient; and Patricia Snyder, executive director of East End Arts in Riverhead. The evening will also celebrate the work of students and staff from Peconic Community School in Aquebogue.

“This year’s honorees are truly special to PCS,” North Fork Education Initiative said in a press release. “Pat Snyder offered PCS a home at East End Arts in its crucial first year, supporting the mission of community-focused arts-integrated education in a most essential way. As a leader on the forefront of progressive education on the East End, Richard Malone has counseled and supported PCS and countless other local schools.”

Guests of SHARE: A Celebration of Education will enjoy light farm fare prepared by East End chefs including Michael Meehan, executive chef at Noyak Golf Club in Sag Harbor, and wine from Shinn Estate Vineyards in Mattituck. Seasonal craft beer will be provided by Southampton Ales & Lagers and dessert will feature mini ice cream cones with a special flavor from Joe & Liza’s Ice Cream in Sag Harbor.

In addition, live music will be performed by soul and jazz group Train Express and there will be a silent auction with prizes including a weekend stay in Vermont, a private pizza party from Rolling in Dough’s pizza truck and a round of golf for four people at Friar’s Head golf club.

Tickets to SHARE cost $100 each and are available online until 8 p.m. today, Friday. A limited number will be sold at the door. To learn more, click here.
