A Riverhead Farmers Market vendor is now teaching a free yoga class at the weekly market, one of three new happenings at the downtown vendors’ fair.

Amy Hess of Amy’s Ark Studio and Farm starting teaching a free yoga class on the Peconic Riverfront last Saturday. The hour-long class starts at 9:30 a.m. and students are asked to meet by the riverfront gazebo.

Hess also sells salads, honey, eggs and other wares from her Westhampton farm at the market.

The Long Island Science Center will also have a table for kids from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. There will be crafts and other fun activities at no cost. The organization will be at the farmer’s market through Labor Day.

And Phillip Mastrangelo of Race Rock Oysters is now offering U-shuck oysters. The shellfish are a dozen for $10 and Mastrangelo keeps sauces on hand.

Regular vendors like MarGene Farms, Browder’s Birds and Invincible Summer Farms can be found at the weekly market as well.

The Riverhead Farmers Market is located along the Peconic Riverfront and runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Saturday.
