Everything they sell is hot and their locally branded sauce is no exception.

Greenport Fire, a cigar and hot sauce shop on Main Street in the village, will once again offer their NoFo Fire hot sauce this summer though this year it will be branded Greenport Fire.

“We always had cigars and we had antiques, but we needed something else,” said co-owner Heather McEneaney of Freeport. “The hot sauce just worked.”

Made with habanero peppers, ginger, honey and garlic, the spicy condiment sells for $9.95 a bottle.

“It has a good kick that lingers,”Ms. McEneaney said. “It has a good flavor too. It’s not just pure heat without flavor.”

The funky village store, which features records nailed to its walls and cigar store Indians in its windows, offers an array of tongue-in-cheek named hot sauces including Queer Sauce for the Hot Guy and Ass Reaper.

“This is our biggest seller obviously,” Ms. McEneaney said of her store’s own flavor.
