6th Annual Chowderfest & Perennial Plant Sale, noon-3 p.m.
New Suffolk Waterfront
Hosted by the New Suffolk Waterfront Fund and co-sponsored by the Peconic Land Trust, this fun, family event features over 50 varieties of perennial plants for sale (many not usually seen in the retail market!) along with a variety of locally prepared chowders and BBQ lunch, activities for the kids and live music from Who Are Those Guys.
Stock up on deer-resistant plants, groundcovers, natives, herbaceous, and popular woodies and vines at great prices! The wares of several North Fork artisans will be available for purchase as well.
All proceeds go toward the restoration and revitalization of the New Suffolk Waterfront property.

Preserving the Harvest: Edible Flowers and Flavored Sugars, 1-4 p.m.
Celebrate the beginning of summer by using the first flowers of the season to make garnishes and flavored sugars, part of a series presented by A Taste of the North Fork and Hallockville Museum Farm. This hands-on workshop will instruct participants in identifying and using edible flowers in salads, baking and other dishes, as well as demonstrate the techniques needed to produce delicate flavored sugars and crystallized flowers. Participants will enjoy samples and take home two bottles of flavored sugar.
Advance registration required, $35/$25 members, plus $6 materials fee.

Celebrating its 80th anniversary, the theme of the Garden Club’s flower and house tour is: “80 Years: Fashion and Flowers.” There will be three spectacular houses to visit with floral displays, along with horticulture and other displays at the Havens House Barn.

Cornell University Horticultural Open House, 10 a.m-3 p.m.
Display gardens will be open all day and there will be a guided tour by the hour. Special seminars on flower arranging, growing daylily plants, using structures in the garden and growing dahlias will be given. Throughout the day a children’s activity, making a “Petunia Pig,” will be available free of charge. A plant sale will also be held all day. Special presentations during the open house include Victory Garden demonstrations where guests can learn about growing vegetables, special tours of the potted flowering annual trials, wagon ride tours of the 68-acre research farm and a workshop at which participants can learn how to make concrete leaf sculptures.
