Singer-songwriter Robert Bruey of Southold is introducing his third studio release “Carousel” Friday night with a full band concert and special musical guests.

Six months in the making, “Carousel” has a more beat-driven sound than his previous records. Fans can expect to hear the electric guitar play a much more prominent role giving the album an edgier feel, Mr. Bruey said.

The 48-year-old first picked up a guitar at the age of 32 and before long he had taught himself to play. He got his start performing covers during open-mic nights at Martha Clara Vineyard and soon after made the jump from hobbyist to artist, writing and singing his own songs.

Today, Mr. Bruey has written more than 100 songs and has two other albums under his belt — ‘Silver Burning Sky’ and ‘Songs from the Path.’

The title of his latest album “Carousel” was inspired by “how life can be thrilling, scary, colorful and once in a while you have to reach for the brass ring,” he said.

Celebrate the release of Robert Bruey’s third CD on Friday, April 25 at 7 p.m. at the Vail Leavitt Music Hall, located at
18 Peconic Avenue in Riverhead.

The night will include a performance by Mr. Bruey and special guest Cassandra House.

Tickets are available www.robertbruey.com. The cost is $20 in advance, or $25 at the door.

“Carousel” will soon be available on Amazon.com, iTunes, robertbruey.com, and cdbaby.com
