Friday is a good day to call in sick, or at least cut out from work because at 2 p.m. Digger’s Ales & Eats and Crooked Ladder Brewing Company are releasing three craft beers you can normally only get in Chicago.
For a limited time, the neighboring pub and brewery will be serving three types of craft beer made by the Chicago-based brewery DryHop.
The tap takeover resulted from a longtime friendship between Crooked Ladder’s founders and Dry Hops’ brewer Brant Dubovick, who is originally from Greenport.
Dubovick has also featured Crooked Ladder’s brews in Chicago, making for a delicious partnership, according to Stephen Wirth, owner of Digger’s and the cofounder of Crooked Ladder.
“It is a fun thing we are doing for our friend who helps us out in Chicago,” Mr. Wirth said. “We’re all about doing fun things.”
Diggers will have DryHop’s Bee-Side, a vanilla honey stout, on tap. Crooked Ladder will be serving Shark Meets Hipster, a wheat IPA, and Snuggleupagus is not a Muppet, an India pale Saison.
The takeover starts at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 14 and lasts until the beer runs out.
Digger’s and Crooked Ladder are located in adjoining buildings at 70 West Main Street in downtown Riverhead. (map it)
