One year after damage from Sandy forced the Southold eatery to close its doors, Pepi’s Restaurant has reopened with a new, fresh feel.

The layout of the Old Main Road restaurant’s dining room has stayed the same, owner Pepi Gibinska said, but all the furniture has been replaced and the floors now boast radiant heating. In addition, the restaurant’s windows have all been replaced with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors.

“You can see the water from every seat,” Ms. Gibinska said.

Pepi’s Restaurant also has a new patio, where Ms. Gibinska said picnic tables will be placed during summer months.

The restaurant’s menu has been enhanced, too.

New offerings include a sautéed jumbo shrimp and spicy chorizo appetizer, a Portobello mushroom appetizer with jumbo lump crabmeat and a Mediterranean salad. Customers can also try new entrees, like the grass-fed Ribeye steak and fresh Pappardelle, a dish made with jumbo shrimp, sausage, vegetables and garlic cream sauce.

And how does it feel to be open again after such a long absence?

“Wonderful,” Ms. Gibinska said. “Everybody has been waiting and I’m sure everybody’s going to stop by to see how the place looks.”
