• Photographer Steve Berger of Jamesport will present his new book, “The North Fork in Black & White,” at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at Mattituck-Laurel Library. Photos from the book, which features photographs taken by Mr. Berger since 1994, are on display in the library’s downstairs gallery.

• To commemorate Veterans Day, Suffolk County Historical Society will show two mural-size World War II oil paintings during November. The two pieces were created by William Stranders and donated to the Riverhead museum by American Legion Post 273 of Riverhead. One painting depicts “General Patton’s Tanks,” the other “The Invasion of the Gilbert Islands.” The artist’s work was used to promote the purchase of war bonds. Born in the Netherlands in 1896, Mr. Stranders later lived in Manhattan and Yonkers. He was a commercial artist for New York Telephone. He died in 1981.

• Work by abstract painter Kryn Olson and assemblage artist Meredith Rose will be on view Nov. 1 to Feb. 5 at Jamesport Manor Inn’s Rosalie Dimon Gallery. The show is co-sponsored by East End Arts. An artists’ reception will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10.

Ms. Olson’s master’s degree thesis was based on teaching science through the arts. She holds a bachelor’s degree with a double major in biology and chemistry and a master’s in the sciences and has explored ecosystems all over the world. According to a press release, “She combines her field experiences, education and excitement for life to create paintings that reflect how and what she experiences.” She shows her work at Peter Marcelle Gallery in Bridgehampton and Gerald Peters Gallery in New York and Santa Fe.

Ms. Rose, a self-taught artist, collects miniature objects and seals them in wood or Lucite, using “time, size and texture as material to create an entire imaginary world set in suspended animation.” She works in Westhampton Beach and Manhattan.

• The Eastern Campus Student Art Exhibit will take place from Nov. 6 to Dec. 14 in the Lyceum Gallery at Suffolk County Community College’s Riverhead campus. Photography, graphic design, computer art and interior design by students in the applied arts program will be on display. An opening reception will be held Thursday, Nov. 14, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Art Sites Gallery in Riverhead will present ‘Three Artists’ — work by Garance, Andrew Wojtas and Dena Zemsky — Nov. 2 to Dec. 21. The exhibit will open with a reception Saturday, Nov. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. Garance, a North Fork artist, presents expressionistic works “inspired by nature, books, pets and fantasies,” according to a release. Ms. Zemsky’s works in clay are “at times abstract, at times inspired by the sea.” Mr. Wojtas, a trained architect, shows his color field paintings.
