Foodies rejoice, there is a special event just for you!

The North Fork of Long Island is famous for fresh, local fare: Peconic Bay scallops, Long Island duck, strawberries, potatoes, corn—the list is endless.

The 7th Annual North Fork Foodie Tour on Sunday, Sept. 8 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. is just the ticket to get a taste of all the North Fork has to offer.

Hosted by the North Fork Reform Synagogue, the event is a self-guided tour featuring stops at the region’s premiere local food destinations.

Admission is $25 for adults and free for children 12 and under. Tickers are available at northforkreformsynagogue.org, and also Gallery M in Greenport, Complement the Chef in Southold, BookHampton in Mattituck and Barth’s Pharmacy in Riverhead.

On the day of the tour maps of all the locations can be picked up anytime after 9 a.m. at Peconic Land Trust Agricultural Center at Charnews Farm, located at Youngs Avenue between Route 25 and Route 48 in Southold.

CATAPANO DAIRY FARM 

33705 County Road 48, Peconic

Catapano’s Dairy Farm is small and family operated; it raises goats and makes fresh milk cheeses, yogurts, fudge and goat milk skincare products. Guided tours at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

 

CROTEAUX VINEYARD & FARMHOUSE COOKING SCHOOL

1450 South Harbor Rd, Southold

Croteaux specializes in rosé wine and features an idyllic barnyard, vineyard, tastings and recipes.

 

LAVENDER BY THE BAY

7540 Main Rd, East Marion

Lavender by the Bay offers fresh-cut and dried lavender, lavender plants and products. Learn about beekeeping, lavender culture and lore.

 

KOPPERT CRESS

23423 Middle Rd, Cutchogue

Koppert Cress searches the world for unusual varieties of aromatic herbs grown into micro-vegetables. Restaurants use them as exotic garnishes for their most elegant dishes.

 

SANG LEE FARMS

25180 Middle Rd, Peconic

Sang Lee Farms shows its organically grown vegetables, heirloom tomatoes, baby greens, herbs, flowers and specialty Asian greens. There will be tastings all day. Guided tour and talk at 2 p.m.

SATUR FARMS

Satur Farms specializes in leafy vegetables, heirloom tomatoes, root vegetables and herbs that it sells to New York City’s high-end restaurants. Guided walking tour at 11:30 a.m.

 

SHINN ESTATE VINEYARDS

2000 Oregon Rd, Mattituck

Learn about the vineyards low-impact sustainable farming, taste the results. Guided walking tour at noon.

 

TASTE OF THE NORTH FORK

53975 Main Rd, Southold

Taste of the North Fork produces food products made with local ingredients including pestos, jams and jellies, mustards, vinegars, dessert sauces, teas and more. See the kitchen where they are made and have a taste.
