When you think of a farm stand, corn, tomatoes, berries and other fresh produce typically come to mind. But Garden of Eve Organic Farm & Market in Riverhead is not your typical farm stand. In addition to organic produce, the roadside farm stand is also home to a market that serves a 100% grass-fed beef burger.

To ensure the highest quality of beef, owners Chris and Eve Kaplan-Walbrecht teamed up with their family members at Mint Creek Farm in Norwich, New York, which specializes in grass-fed meats.

“It’s all in the family,” said head chef Susan Hilvert. “It is hard to get meat that you can trust. We know where it comes from.”

The burger is served on a fresh brioche roll and topped with heirloom tomatoes, red onions, fresh-picked greens and homemade pickles that are all grown on the farm. Giving the juicy burger some added zest is Garden of Eve’s creamy special sauce – a secret recipe that uses the farm’s own herbs and spices.

Since Garden of Eve started serving its signature burger last summer it’s been a hit with customers.

“The burger was a new item we were going to experiment with and after the first week we knew we had to keep it on the menu because everyone wanted one,” Ms. Hilvert said. “It’s within the top three items on our menu and it’s my personal favorite.”

Garden of Eve is located on Sound Avenue in Riverhead at the intersection of Northville Turnpike.
